“To Question is to Answer”
Christopher Smith
Christopher Smith is the founder and CEO of RockPaperScissors, a multi-disciplinary, independently owned strategy design studio based in Singapore.
In January of 2024, Smith began a journey to fully integrate Generative Artificial Intelligence into every facet of his work, from discovery, research, and ideation through to strategy design, creative development and storytelling.
At age 60, he opened RockPaperScissors with the goal of transforming how he worked, with a new AI tool set, and a 30 year perspective that includes a variety of clients of every size.
He runs a series of 1-1 workshops for senior executives who are looking to better understand the impact of GenAI for their company’s future as well as their own careers. This book is a result of those sessions.
“What I began to realize was that senior leaders were asking more questions about why I ask certain questions, how did I know which thread to pull, and what I think about when I work with GenAI platforms such Claude, Perplexity, Gemini and ChatGPT. The coaching sessions quickly moved away from “How do I…” to “Why do I…” This book is a compilation of what I have learned over the past few years, since the emergence of publicly available GenAI tools and platforms.”
Christopher Smith’s work encompasses strategy and positioning, innovation, communications, branding, creative, and campaign development, with over 30 of experience leading initiatives and guiding high-performance teams from startups, agencies, brands, and NGOs.
For the past 14 years, he has been honing his craft in Asia, with experience gained from enterprise giants like Apple, Google and Unilever to scrappy visionaries like Go-Jek and the Alliance To End Plastic Waste, as well as agency roles with frog design, WPP, Dentsu, Superson, and Endemol Shine Group.
